MORE LIKE THIS?- OR -MORE OF THIS?

In November 2008, a document was prepared by some sort of consortium of Halton Council, Liverpool City Council, Knowsley Council, Sefton Council,St Helens Council and Wirral Council.

The document, called the "Spatial Strategy & Sites Report" sets out proposed landfill sites in the Councils' respective areas for years to come. You can read the full document by clicking here.

Despite strong objections - including those from Wirral Council - one site, in particular, has annoyed local residents by being proposed to go forward to the next stage. You can read more about this from one of the few local councillors who keeps us informed!

You can read more of his progress by clicking here and here.

I don't know whether it's more "Politically Correct" to use the term 'Landfill' but, whatever you call it, it's a rubbish tip. A dumping ground for non-recyclable rubbish complete with rats, flies, non-biodegradable rain-sodden junk, smells, litter & seagulls and with all the potential for being a wind-borne health hazard as well.

Estimated approximate area likely to be affected by prevailing wind-borne debris and smells
affected area According to research commissioned for the Offshore windfarm (people who should know about wind direction!), the predominant wind in this area is SW to W so the area shown on this Google Map is likely to be adversely affected most of the time.

It's not too late to stop this! PLEASE get in touch with Councillor Chris Blakeley and register your objections!.

Thank you,

John.
