Also known as: Chinese Sucking Loach or Indian Algae Eater.
Despite its common names, this fish actually originates in Thailand. It is unequalled as an aquarium cleaner eating algae from glass, plants and rocks. Although they are quite peaceful when young, they tend to become more aggressive as they get older.
They can grow up to 27cms (10 inches) in length but in the aquarium should not exceed 17cms.
Although primarily an algae eater, it will accept most food and prefers a temperature between 21 and 28ºC (70 - 82ºF).
